This 12 inch pieced block is highlighted by a single fabric block, leaving of space for great quilting. We used a straight set resulting in a square quilt. You could of course add more rows to create a queen or king size quilt. The pieced block is simplified by using the Nifty Notions� Half Square (NNHS) and Quarter Square (NNQS) ruler. Some earlier quiltmaker designed this block to honor one of our First Ladies and we�re delighted to share the story with you. We chose a very scrappy look for the pieced block supported by a plain fabric for the alternate block. You could choose to work in a more organized manner, but remember that a wide variety of light, medium and dark fabrics make this even more exciting.
