This 4-week class is Phase 1 of a 2-phase class. In Phase 1, you will complete the piecing of a 12-block quilt top that will be required to participate in the phase 2 class. In Phase 2, you’ll learn free motion quilting and ruler work. If you’re already confident in your piecing abilities, you may forego this class and proceed to sign up in the Phase 2 class. All blocks are squared to 9.5” and will finished at 9.0”. Sashings and cornerstones finish at 2.0”. What you will learn in this class: 1. Proper ruler and rotary cutting techniques 2. Proper pressing techniques 3. Four patch construction using strip method, spinning the center to reduce bulk 4. Hourglass block construction making 2 at a time 5. Half square triangles with explanation of formula to achieve accurate finished size 6. Flying geese blocks making 4 at a time 7. How to square blocks 8. How to measure and attach sashings and cornerstones 9. Stitching of rows together with explanation of pressing to achieve nesting of seams 10. How to square quilt, sandwich, baste, and prepare for quilting
