This is a 2-session class in which you’ll construct the quilt top and prepare it for quilting in the first session (with some at-home work during the week depending on how much you finish in class). You’ll return the second session to learn the ins and outs of continuous line quilting whereby you can begin stitching in one color of your quilt and not have to break your thread until you begin the next color area. The stitching lines in this quilt are straight or slightly curved and can be accomplished with either a walking foot or a ruler foot and straight and curved templates. If you’ve been wanting to learn free motion quilting and ruler work but haven’t known where to start, join Marlene in this 6-week class to learn to quilt your own quilts. In addition to learning numerous free motion quilting patterns, you’ll create a wreath design using a stencil and use two of Amanda Murphy’s quilting templates to stitch many ruler work patterns. If you did not take the Phase 1 piecing class, please stitch a quilt top as shown above, have it sandwiched with batting and backing, and bring it with you to the first class. All blocks finish at 9.0”. Sashings and cornerstones finish at 2.0”.

Learn to use your embroidery module to quilt an edge to edge design on a wholecloth quilt sandwich. You will be shown how to use both pinpoint placement and a printed template to achieve perfect placement of nine hoopings to complete this project.
